Sustainability gets a new look

ESOFASHION

ESOFASHION is the specialized service by ESO RECYCLING dedicated to the collection, recovery, and recycling of clothing, shoes, and accessories from the fashion industry. Through this service, discarded fashion materials are given a second life, supporting sustainable fashion practices and contributing to a circular economy.

The fashion industry is one of the largest and most influential sectors worldwide, generating significant economic value. However, it is also among the industries with the highest environmental impact. The production of clothing requires substantial amounts of water, energy, and natural resources, while also contributing to the increase of textile waste and pollution in landfills and waterways.

These issues are further amplified by the rise of fast fashion, a phenomenon that accelerates production and consumption cycles, leading to garments being worn only briefly before being discarded. This creates enormous quantities of waste that place additional pressure on the environment.

To address these challenges, it is essential to adopt a circular model where materials are recovered, reused, and recycled rather than ending up in landfills. ESOFASHION enables fashion brands, retailers, and manufacturers to integrate eco-friendly and sustainable recycling practices into their operations, reducing waste, lowering environmental impact, and promoting a responsible approach to production and consumption in the fashion industry.

The ESO Model

The ESO world is a dynamic and innovative network of companies united by a shared vision: transforming materials that begin as waste into valuable new resources. By combining advanced technology, expertise, and sustainable practices, ESO turns discarded materials into solutions that benefit businesses, communities, and the environment alike.

With over twenty years of experience in the waste management sector, we develop concrete circular economy solutions that optimize the recovery, recycling, and upcycling of materials. Every stakeholder in our supply chain actively contributes to reducing environmental impact, promoting sustainable business practices, and generating social and economic value for local communities. Our integrated approach demonstrates how responsible management of resources can create lasting benefits, foster innovation, and support a greener, more sustainable future.

The ESOFASHION service

With ESOFASHION, we offer a comprehensive service dedicated to the collection, recovery, and recycling of a wide range of fashion materials. Our goal is to promote sustainable fashion practices and a circular economy approach in the fashion industry, turning waste into valuable new resources.

  • Clothing of all types and materials, from production leftovers to worn-out garments.
  • Shoes, including sneakers, boots, and other footwear.
  • Fashion accessories such as bags, belts, hats, and scarves.
  • Sample collections from designers and brands, helping to prevent unnecessary waste.
  • Unsold products from retailers, which would otherwise end up in landfills.

All these materials originate from companies and retailers in the fashion industry and are carefully collected to ensure maximum recovery potential. The collected items are then processed using advanced recycling and upcycling techniques, transforming them into new secondary raw materials suitable for a variety of applications.

Through this process, ESOFASHION contributes directly to the reduction of textile waste, the minimization of environmental impact, and the promotion of eco-friendly and sustainable production practices in the fashion sector. By integrating recovered materials into new products, we help companies embrace a circular economy model, generating value for the environment, businesses, and local communities alike.

From waste to new resources

Clothing, footwear and accessories — both pre-consumer* and post-consumer — are carefully recovered and transformed into new materials and products intended for multiple applications, helping to give new life to what would otherwise be considered waste:

   Urban furniture, such as benches, planters and equipment for public spaces

   Interior furnishings, including accessories and solutions for offices, schools and communities

   Sports surfaces, including flooring and impact-absorbing areas for gyms and playgrounds

   New materials for the community, designed for innovative and sustainable projects

This approach not only reduces the need to use virgin raw materials, but also actively supports the transition towards a more sustainable and circular production model, where every recovered material becomes a valuable resource for businesses, communities and the environment.

*Compliant management of unsold textile products

The new European legislation introduces specific obligations for the management of unsold clothing, footwear and accessories.

These products can no longer automatically be sent for recycling or other treatment operations as waste. First of all, it is necessary to assess alternatives that allow them to remain in use, such as placing them back on the market, repair, refurbishment, donation or preparation for reuse.

Only when the conditions established by one of the exemptions provided for by European legislation are met, can unsold items be sent for treatment, in compliance with the waste hierarchy and prioritising recycling over energy recovery and disposal.

The ESOweb service for the management of unsold products

ESOweb supports companies in managing the obligations required by legislation through a dedicated service that allows them to:

   identify the correct scope of application of the regulation;

   verify whether an exemption may apply;

   collect and organise the necessary documentation;

   prepare the declaration relating to the applicable exemption to be provided to the treatment facility;

   retain the evidence and documents required by legislation;

   support the preparation of information to be reported and published.

When the legal requirements are met and properly documented, products can be entrusted to ESO RECYCLING Società Benefit arl for their correct treatment and for the recovery of materials, which can be used to create new resources and applications.

ESOweb supports companies from regulatory assessment to document management, making every step traceable and demonstrable.
