ReBound and ESO RECYCLING together to promote circularity in footwear returns
We are pleased to announce a new partnership between ReBound, a global leader in returns management, and ESO RECYCLING, an Italian company specialized in the recovery and recycling of end-of-life materials.
The aim of this collaboration is to provide European retailers with a sustainable solution for unsellable footwear, in compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.
Through this partnership, footwear that cannot be reintroduced to the market is diverted from landfill and sent for recycling at the ESO RECYCLING plant in Tolentino. Thanks to scientifically validated processes and proprietary technologies developed in collaboration with universities and research partners, these materials are transformed into high-value secondary raw materials, used in projects for public and social benefit: impact-absorbing playground surfaces, running tracks and other sustainable applications.
“We believe that no material should go to waste. This partnership allows us to apply our proven recycling process to help retailers across Europe close the loop on sustainability.”
— Nicolas Meletiou, CEO, ESO RECYCLING
Thanks to ReBound’s logistics network and ESO RECYCLING’s expertise in material treatment, this partnership represents a concrete step towards a circular economy model, delivering environmental, operational and regulatory benefits:
- More efficient collection and return operations
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions
- Full traceability of recycled materials
- Compliance with EPR regulations for the textile sector
A synergy that demonstrates how collaboration between complementary organizations can create value for businesses, communities and the environment.
