We are pleased to announce the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between ESO RECYCLING and ACES Europe – Italian Delegation, Federation of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport. This agreement represents an important step forward for ESO RECYCLING and our commitment to the treatment of sports waste through the esosport® project.
We share with ACES Italy the belief that sport and physical activity play a fundamental role in cultural and educational development, as well as in the physical and mental well-being of individuals and communities. Equally shared by ESO RECYCLING and ACES Italy is the need to improve the management of waste generated by sports activities, promoting the recovery and recycling of end-of-life materials: sports shoes, bicycle tires and inner tubes, tennis and padel balls.
With the signing of this agreement, together with ACES Italy we express our commitment to promoting awareness and the practice of recycling end-of-life sports materials, involving Italian municipalities in sustainable development pathways, based on ecological criteria aimed at fostering the transition to a circular economy. Together with ACES Italy, we will develop projects to promote the adoption of good environmental practices in Italian municipalities as an investment in quality of life and the future well-being of citizens.
The agreement, lasting 3 years, has been signed by Nicolas Meletiou, Managing Director of ESO RECYCLING, and Vincenzo Lupattelli, President of ACES Italy.
“Since 2009, with the creation of the esosport® project dedicated to the collection of sports waste, we have been committed to transforming end-of-life materials into secondary raw materials through recycling,” stated Nicolas Meletiou. “We believe that the circular economy is a shared commitment that involves all of us, in our daily actions and in the world of sport. We are pleased to have reached this important agreement with ACES Italy, which we are confident will engage Italian municipalities alongside us in the esosport® project, starting from schools, sports associations, federations and sports promotion bodies, which can become key players in the challenge of environmental sustainability.”
“I am truly pleased to announce the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding with esosport®. With this agreement, our network is strengthened by a strategically important element for environmental sustainability, a topic that has always been promoted by ACES Italy. We will raise awareness among Italian municipalities so that recycling and sustainable development pathways become increasingly widespread across our territories,” concludes Vincenzo Lupattelli, President of ACES Italy.
